Yarm made the list of the top 50 UK shopping destinations and was named the best place to shop in the area.

Our lovely North East town, Yarm, has been named the best place to shop in the region by the Newmark Retail Vitality Rankings for 2024 - it has also made it into the top 50 in the whole of the United Kingdom. The study examined towns throughout the nation using variables like consumer spending, the vacancy rate, and the quantity of bank branches closed before 2019 to arrive at this conclusion.

As the only town in the North East to make the top 50, Yarm's "retail health" ranking was 43rd nationally. Yarm has risen 22 spots in the rankings since 2019 and now outperforms Richmond and Horsham in West London. Yarm's High Street is lined with a range of independent eateries, pubs, jewellers, and home and art stores. Yarm, which is partially cobbled for parking and is known for its picturesque views along its main shopping stretch, is tucked away in a steep bend of the River Tees.
