There's no doubt that the Retro Decor style has been creeping its way back over the last few years, but we couldn’t help but flashback to the 80s whilst indulging in the new Stranger Things Season.  From Pastel colours to rounded accessories, there are so many aesthetically pleasing trends that will give your home heaps of character! Read on to see our favourite 80’s inspired decor trends in 2022.

Pastels, Pastels, Pastels!

If there’s one thing that screams the 80s, it’s the design trends that contrast. Neon lights & bold colours aren't everyone’s cup of tea, but what about pastels? Take a look at this Blush Coral Pink sofa by Snug Sofa that has been complemented with matching wall colour and colour contrasting pastel accessories. Why not try this yourself by using a soft blush wall colour that contrasts with pastel blue pillows or vibrant throws.

Go Art Deco With A Memphis Design

Whilst the name may make you think it originated in the US, Memphis Design started in Milan, Italy, in the early 80s. With its easily recognizable style, Memphis Design takes all things bold, abstract, colourful and loud. The best way to channel this look is to add interesting shaped furniture to the room - whether that be a curved sofa or an odd-shaped vase!

Tropical Palms

Tropical plants and prints were huge in the 80s, so why not have another excuse to decorate your home with more house plants! Take a look at this shot from Urban Outfitters who have styled this living room with their Modular Velvet Sofa in the colour Rose and plenty of palms plants - a vibe! If you’re not feeling real plants, artificial or even a wall print will do the trick.

Rounded Accessories & Soft Furnishings

We’re slowly seeing the straight-lined minimalist style fade away and rounded, soft furnishings reappearing. Rounded pieces are the perfect mix of glam & modern, effortlessly bringing the character to any home. Make a statement with a rounded sofa or add subtle touches with playful ornaments.

Deep Sofas

Deep-seated sofas were popular in the ’80s, with the low, bold and deep look. Not only are these super comfortable, but they have a homely appearance too. We love that they’re making a comeback. Take a look at this handcrafted loveseat by Swoon Editions - the ultimate cosy spot!
