Although the UK property market usually sees a brief slowdown in activity during the hottest months of the year, this year it’s very possible that you might be considering selling a house in the summer.

We are still seeing a record number of buyers ready and waiting to purchase their brand new home, so it's important to stand out from the other property sellers as there may be more competition than usual this year.

Focus on the garden

It's not secret that the garden will be in it's most beautiful stage during the sunny months, so it's an excellent time to show off your well-maintained outdoor living space. Make sure to regularly mow the lawn, remove weeds and cut back any hedges or branches that are blocking sunlight. Plant pots are the perfect way to brighten up the space.

Clean the windows

When the sun is shining through the windows, the dirt can be particularly evident and it can take away from the light filling up the room. If you do not have time or tools to do so, look at hiring a window cleaner as it will make all the difference.

Play close attention to the exterior

We mentioned above the importance of focusing on your garden, but what about the other areas of your property? A buyers first impression is as soon as they lay their eyes on the home which means things such as paint peeling on window frames screams 'this property needs work.' Any front garden or pathway and the front door should be tidied up as much as possible. A fresh coat of paint, trimming the hedge and giving the path a clean can really make a difference.
